How We Find The Right Location For A Well
The first step in drilling a well is to locate the best place to drill. This involves analyzing the soil to determine the depth and quality of the water. At Willey & Co, we drill while analyzing the soil coming up from the ground. This helps us to determine the water’s depth and quality. Once we have located a natural source that produces enough water without any signs of quality issues, we stop the drilling process and begin installing the well.

Well Installation
After we have located the best place to drill, we then sink a piece of pipe to the bottom of the hole, called a well screen. The well screen has thin machined slots that allow water to flow inside while keeping sand and stones out. We then extend solid pipe to the surface and install small-diameter gravel all the way around and up the entire section of well screen. This helps to prevent the well screen from becoming clogged and also helps to keep the well functional through thick and thin.

Pumping And Treatment
Once the well has been drilled and installed, we need to create a way to get water to the surface. A submersible pump is typically used for this purpose, which is installed at the bottom of the well and is powered by electricity. The pump draws water up through the well screen and delivers it to the surface, where it can be used for various purposes such as drinking, irrigation, or industrial use. It is important to ensure that the pump is properly sized and installed to prevent damage to the well and to ensure optimal performance.

Water Treatment
If the water is going to be used for human consumption, it is important to treat the water and ensure it is safe and pleasant to drink. At Willey Co, we install water treatment systems that can treat the water’s hardness, as well as lessen iron intake and improve the smell and flavor of the water. If you’re not sure if your well needs a water treatment system, Willey & Co will provide our expert advice and make sure that your well is ready to be used in any way that you require.
